I have always loved Christmas and in my opinion, walking into a room which clearly celebrates Christmas is a very exciting moment for me. Even more so, it's when people step outside the square and fill their home with their own Christmas vision. Throughout the years people have become less traditional and more expressive and I love it. 

Whatever your Christmas interpretation may be, I dare you to go there, spend a little extra time and just go there! Who said Christmas had to be red and green? and who said you had to avoid the colours red and green to move away from the traditional Christmas decor? 

Whatever your personal taste for Christmas may be, embrace it and enjoy. 

The Mother of the Miniskirt : Mary Quant

In 1965, it was British fashion designer Mary Quant who designed the the worlds first miniskirt. With no real training in fashion, the risk taking trend setter opened her boutique "Bazaar" on King's Road, London which soon became the place to be by many well known celebrities. Mary Quant is well known for her edge and will to break all the fashion rules.

Company Overview

A L E S S A marks the design debut of Jordie Grist and Sarah MacKellar.

After both working in the fashion industry for some time the girls realised there was an increasing need for a label that could produce easy-wear shapes but still manage to look chic and modern.

“We design our clothes as we would wear them ourselves. Therefore we use simple cuts that compliment any style, prints that are striking yet flexible and fabrics that are beautiful and easy to wear. We take a lot from our surroundings; it might be a friend or an image or an afternoon. It might be an overseas trip, or a piece from a NYC runway or an album. All these things get thrown in together and articulated through our vision of A L E S S A.”

“Our collections are exciting because they incorporate what we love about international fashion with a very effortless Australian style. This is the key for us really, designing from an Australian perspective but not limiting ourselves in any way. Keeping open and striking a balance in our all pieces. Finding where that balance lies, now that’s something to keep us inspired.”
